VETERANS MUSIC VENTURE TRIBUTE!When we first asked Flynn Edwards to play a guitar version of The Last Post, my Veteran friend Shaun Spain was so impressed, he donated a guitar to him. On the main stage at HOTA when he played that guitar, Shaun was there to watch - and Flynn and his band dedicated a Metallica song to Shaun and the Veterans, very emotional!Tragically, Shaun took his life 7/1/23 and we were able to launch a Veterans Music Venture, doing the same for Veterans as we have been doing for kids for the past 14 years and we named it in Shaun’s honour!Seagulls Club have been so supportive and enthused, they entered it into the NSW Club Grants Community Awards and have recently been advised it is a FINALIST!The winners will be on announced on the 6th of June at a huge event with around 136 clubs attending!Fingers crossed, but whatever happens, just to score Finalist is amazing for the Veterans Music Venture and all Veterans! AUSTRALIA IS IN GOOD HANDS!A proud moment for me, to be standing with our Griffin Light-Law, McPherson Young Community Achieve Award in hand, who exemplifies what Youth Music Venture, now in its 14th year, is all about!Griffin first came into our program when he was 11 and has gone forward in leaps and bounds ever since!Musically, he is now a talented multi instrumentalist winning award after award in every arena and also a talented vocalist, having recently played lead in Palm Beach Currumbin State High School's amazing Wedding Singer production.But most importantly, since age 13 he has been a voluntary Assistant Mentor withYouth Music Venturenture program and also spent hundreds of hours helping younger kids at Currumbin Primary School.He also achieved the great honour of being awarded Gold Coast Youth Volunteer of The Year, recognition for all his amazing voluntary efforts!What an amazing community citizen he has turned out to be and with a few more Griffins around, Australia is certainly in good hands for the future!Congratulations Griffin!Pictured here with our long term suppoKaren Andrews MPws MP - Federal Member for McPherson ... VETERANS MUSIC VENTURE - FINALIST!When we launched the Australian first Veterans Music Venture last year in honor of my Veteran friend Shaun Spain RIP 7/1/23, Tweed Seagulls Club absolutely embraced it, giving more than could ever have been expected and their “head office” Norths Collective was just as passionate.So much so, they entered Veterans Music Venture into the NSW Club Grants Community Awards and we just been informed it is a FINALIST in their category, with the major awards event on the 6th of June in Sydney with around 136 clubs participating!Not only a proud moment for Seagulls Club and Veterans Music Venture, but also keeping awareness of our Veterans front and centre, which is where they deserve to be!Brandon, Shaun's twin brother is absolutely ecstatic, as is our Senior Mentor Dean Fuller who made it all happen - and I am also incredibly proud!Pictured are legendary Vietnam Vet comedian @ColElliott when he officially launched the program, Brandon Spain, Dean Fuller and myself, Ian Grace! ...
